What I refer to as "the record" is whatever people decide
to put in "the record." This is usually in some published
form. It doesn't matter to me whether that stuff is in one
form or another.
I keep email longer than a lot of people do. That's due
to the fact that I find myself looking up something old
maybe once a month. I don't consider facebook like
what I call "the record." I suppose that's because I've
never learned how to look much up there. I don't read
facebook much and I guess I think of it more like a
newspaper rather than a letter. I've skipped past many
newspaper articles that I've never read, and I don't save
newspapers now, although I have done so in the past.
